1850 (Dec. 27) Liverpool, England to New Orleans, La., folded letter endorsed "Atlantic" and bearing GB 1s green embossed issue, cut to shape, cancelled by "466" barred oval, Liverpool (12.28) origin backstamp, red "21cents" credit handstamp, carried by Collins Line Atlantic from Liverpool Dec. 28 but broke shaft and returned, then carried by Cunard Line Africa to New York arriving Feb. 15, New York red "Am Packet 'Paid 24' Feb 16" exchange cds, Very Fine, a very scarce interrupted mail voyage. Scott No. GB #5  Estimate $200 - 300. The Collins Line "Atlantic" broke a shaft on January 6, 1851 about 900 miles from Halifax, and returned to Liverpool under sail arriving on January 22. Mails were transferred to the Cunard steamship "Africa". $0 (Image)
