1848-1849 U.S.-Great Britain Mails, Restored Rates, group of 7 covers to the U.S. during the restored rate period comprising three of the four sailings: second (four), third (two) and fourth (one), F.-V.F., a scarce group. Estimate $500 - 750. In December 1848 a treaty was negotiated restoring the conditions prior the the Retaliatory Rate period. The treaty was not ratified by Congress until February 1849 and the three sailings by Cunard before ratification are known as the Restored Period.
