1845 (Jun. 3) Birmingham, England to Philadelphia Pa., folded letter with "Birmingham, JU 3, 1845" double-arc cds and red manuscript "1/-" shilling packet rating, carried by Cunard Line Caledonia from Liverpool Jun. 4th to Boston arriving Jun. 19th, closed back to Philadelphia where complete strike of scarce "20¾" script rating handstamp struck in blue for 18¾¢ inland plus 2¢ ship fee, Very Fine. Estimate  $300 - 400. This was the last Cunard westbound voyage before the 1845 U.S. rate change. As a result, this is the latest recorded use of this Philadelphia 20¾¢ rating handstamp. $0 (Image)
