Lot of nine folded covers manuscript Name of Boat markings, "Ship" & "Steam" handstamps, rate handstamps, various different rates, included is an 1836 folded cover from Matogorda, Texas to New Orleans with manuscript "Schr. Orbit" & "6" rate, 1831 folded cover (stained) from New Orleans Feb. 10 & endorsed at bottom left "DeWitt Clinton", to New York & postmarked red "New York/May 29" cds with manuscript "1" drop rate, an interval of 110 days in transit, thought to have been recovered from the wreck of the Dewitt Clinton, 1829 folded cover from Bath, Me. to Charleston, where it was forwarded by private ship to New Orleans with scarce red two line "Ship 14½" handstamp & manuscript "Due 18½", plus two folded covers with "Steam" handstamp used on domestic contract ships, etc., some cover aging, F.-V.F.
