(Shades) 3¢ Mid-1852 Orange Brown, position 29R2L, mostly large margins except barely touched at bottom, tied by bold strike of "New-York Oct 25" cds on 1852 folded letter to Philadelphia, Pa., a Very Fine and scarce example of this shade type. Scott No. 11A  Estimate $200 - 300. The mid-1852 orange brown is another color that seems to have been used mostly in mid-1852 that has an orange brown tint and does not go with the brownish carmines. It is somewhat close to the bright brownish carmines, but has more orange rather than carmine or red. It has been seen from plates 1L, 2L and 3. $0 (Image)
