Stampless folded letter headed "St Diego Alta California May 17/42/Barque Tasso" and "N Cruz Sept 2/42" and finally "St Diego Octo 1/42", letter written in English by the Captain of a Bark Tasso, operating between Mazatlan and San Diego with contents expressing gratitude for letters received, to Sandwich, Massachusetts, by the "Ship Alert", entered the mails with "Boston, Ms., May 5" red cds and "Ship" red straight line handstamp with "12" manuscript rate marking (2¢ ship fee plus 10¢ postage from Boston to Sandwich collect), some splitting at the folds & small edge tears, F.-V.F. Estimate  $500 - 750. Letter signed with directive, "Write to me Direct, Capt. Barque Tasso, Coast Alta California, Care of Don Frederico Becher, Matzalan, Send it to Cozzens in New York, get him to pay 25cts Postage and put it on board the Vera Cruz packet.". $0 (Image)
