(Route 7702) Regular Passenger Packet Doubloon, choice strike of red oval handstamp on 3¢ red Nesbitt buff entire from the Carroll Hoy correspondence to New Orleans La., entered mails with "New Orleans La. Apr 14 1860" cds and matching "Steam" straightline cancels indicia; usual filing hole, Very Fine. Milgram No. 357  Estimate $500 - 750. "Doubloon" of 293 tons built at Cincinnati, Ohio in 1859 for Capt. W.C. Harrison who ran her on the New Orleans - Shreveport - Carolina Bluffs trade. Scuttled in the Red River in May 1864 and raised after the war to run under Harrison until sold in February 1867. $0 (Image)
