(Non-Contract) Stonewall, black Jan. 8th 1869 and blue Feb. 26th 1869 octagonal handstamps on two 3¢ pink entires (U58) from the Carroll Hoy correspondence to New Orleans La.; usual filing holes, blue with no flap and small edge tear sealed with non-archival tape, a Very Fine pair. Milgram No. 1322, 1323  Estimate $150 - 200. The "Stonewall" of 879 tons was built at Jeffersonville Ind. in 1866 and registered at St. Louis with Capt. John C. Dowty as Master. She burned above Cairo Ill. in October 1869 with the loss of 209 lives. $0 (Image)
