There is a opportunity for all who wish to transfer to the gunboats, can do so, all who go on the Boats will be discharged about two years sooner than to stay in the Regiment, their wages will be 21$ pr month., also mentions the lettersheet illustration…The Dome with the flag on, in the distance is the McDowel Colege where Rebel prisoners are., Very Fine. Estimate $150 - 200. The McDowell Medical College building became Gratiot Street Prison in December 1861. Generally, Gratiot Street Prison served as a holding place for prisoners until they could be transferred to larger facilities.
