(Klamath) Cottage Grove, Cal, July 30, 1862, manuscript postmark (KLA-10, R5) on fresh cover with beautiful red and blue eagle and flag patriotic design, addressed and sent free to the Third Assistance Post Master General in Washington City, D.C., Extremely Fine, Cottage Grove is the only recorded mark from this mining camp in this county, a key postmark to collecting this dead county, ex-Nathan; accompanied by 1963 letter from the Siskiyou County Historical Society to Mel Nathan regarding this small town.
