(Georgia) Columbus, Georgia "July 26", red oval postmark with red manuscript date and matching "Paid 25" cent rating on 1831 folded letter to Washington City, Very Fine and early Georgia use. Estimate $750 - 1,000. ONE OF ONLY THREE RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THIS POSTMARK IN PRIVATE HANDS. Letter has some interesting political content including, "Dear Sir after returning you my warmest thanks for the interest you have taken in endeavoring to promote the interests of our new Town.
