Address on folded letter datelined "Alexandria July 14th, 1815" with interesting content regarding recent events and news at the end of the War of 1812 and the Treaty of Ghent…We have has great rejoicings at Jacksons success & its lamented by many that Cockburn was not in the war there…it is reported that there was an indorsement on the New York way bill saying there is a Peace…there is no doubt with me but we shall have it shortly if it has not come, as Parliment say they had no idea that the Govt. was at war for conquest…there appears much dissatisfaction with many, since they have seen Mr. Madisons communications to Congress from Ghent…Appropriations are made to rebuild the Public buildings at Washington…Mr. Ringold clerk in the war office has said to one of our citizens he was authorized to say by the President that a Treaty has arrived, also content regarding the mails including an express leaving for Charleston; light cover staining, F.-V.F.
