"Columbus N.T., March 18th 1861", manuscript postmark with matching stylized "3" squiggles canceling 1Ā¢ blue (24) strip of three on orange cover to Paoli Pa.; horizontal fold affects left stamp, right with flaw, no bottom flap and couple stain spots, Very Fine, This is the listing example for this town in Winter., ex-Winter. EstimateĀ  $300 - 400. Francis Becker was the third postmaster of Columbus Neb. from June 2nd 1858 until Dec. 4th 1862. This envelope appears to be postmarked and addressed in his hand. Nebraska Territory had just been greatly reduced in size on Feb. 4th 1861 following Kansas statehood on Jan. 29th 1861. The population of Columbus N.T. in 1861 was about 100 people. $0 (Image)
