1802, incoming lettersheet from Amsterdam 4 June, addressed to Philadelphia with oval "NEW-YORK AUG 12" on front, endorsed "p Capt.Marschalk via New York" (Ship Orlando). Rated for a letter 90-150 miles at 12½c. x2 for double weight, originally 25c., then the 2c. ship letter charge was added and corrected into 27c., vertical file fold otherwise very fresh.

1847 'Washington' 10c black horizontal pair, used on folded cover from Charleston, S.C. to New York, tied by circle of bars in red and with "CHARLESTON S.C./MAR 24" in red alongside. The pair of fresh colour, with slightly touched/cut bottom frameline at left otherwise fine, the cover folded crosswise. On the reverse with note "Bought of W.H. Coloon June 1, 1909" and "Rust sale Harmer Rooke 2/24/42" in m/s. A scarce pair on cover signed by Peter Holcombe, and with H. Richter certificate (1996). (Scott $2,800)

1952 "President Harry S. Truman": Complete sheet of 100 of the 1952 NATO stamp 3c. with original signature of Harry S. Truman on sheet margin at the right, presented to Lord Hastings Lionel Ismay, NATO's first Secretary General on his visit to Washington 1952, in original folder. The sheet with margin missing at the left and slight traces of ageing, but very unusual as a present during a NATO meeting in Washington and signed by the President of the United States of America.
