The original painting itself and the large final design, two of the most important items of 20th century stamp art, the preliminary painting (240mm x345 mm) in acrylic and gouache by the renowned artist O C Meronti for his rendition of "Humanity" for the first United Nations postage stamp, the 1951 1c "Peoples of the World"; also accompanied by Meronti's final design of the stamp, 120mm x 145mm, as eventually printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company. Estimate  $3,000 - 4,000. The painting and final design sold for combined $5,750 in a 2003 Greg Manning auction; both items are unique and unquestionably important, not just in the philatelic sphere.
