1863 MACON-GA to RICHMOND-VA & REPOSTED at NEW-MARKET-VA, Confederate States #12 pays the 10¢ rate from MACON on OCT3,1863 and addressed 570 miles north to Dr. D.R.Cumming at RICHMOND where he was the Hospital Steward for the Georgia 12th Battalion Light Artillery, the cover next shows up 125 miles west at NEWMARKET-VA on OCT 28th where it was turned and another #12 franking applied to pay the 10¢ rate to Dr. Cummings wife located 550 miles south at WARTHEN'S-STORE-GA, some ink spots and light foxing, a rare turned Confederate cover with military ties, F-VF est ($250+ US) (Image)
