Post Office, Swarts, Chatham Square. Red oval handstamp (a bit faint) on folded letter sent from New York City Feb. 27, 1849 to Laguna, Mexico, where forwarded to addressee, forwarding notation on back, rectangular and oval town markings, "3" rate, F.-V.F., most unusual, evidently taken by Swarts to a private mail forwarder, conveyed to Mexico, then placed into mails and removed once again by a private forwarder.
