Printed circular franked with 1870, 2¢ red brown canceled by segmented cork cancel, red "20c" due handstamp and reverse with matching red "Etats-Unis 2, Cherbourg, Dec 13" French entry cds (Salles 1802, 2 years earlier than listed), Very Fine, a very early and scarce use of the French 20 centimes printed matter rate. Scott No. 146  Estimate $300 - 400. Sent per Hamburg-American Line - Steamer Allemannia, departing New York on November 28th and arriving at Plymouth on December 11th.
