1871 Levier, France To San Francisco, Cal. Cover franked with 1870, 80c rose tied by "2049" dotted lozenge cancel, red London transit cds and "2 Cents" credit handstamp, handstamped "Advertised" on front with circular "San Francisco, Cal Advertised, Aug 30" on the reverse and red "San Francisco Paid All Aug 15" exchange cds; cover with corner missing at upper left, F.-V.F. Scott No. 48  Estimate $750 - 1,000. The rate was 1.2 francs per 10 grams via G.B. (July 1, 1871 to July 31, 1874). Either 40 centimes was paid in cash or this was processed at the previous 70 centimes per one third ounce rate. Sent via Cunard Line - per steamer Scotia, departing Liverpool 29-Ju;-1871, Queenstown 30-Jul-1871, arriving New York 8-Aug-1871. $0 (Image)
