On folded letter franked with 1868, 80c rose, two singles tied by "1769" dotted lozenge cancels paying the double 80 centimes per 7.5 grams rate for between 7.5 and 15 grams, red "New York, Paid, Nov 3" entry cds and matching "6" cents credit handstamp to the U.S. (double 3¢ U.S. inland), backstamped with very rare "Lafayette Paq. Fr./19 Oct. 65" octagon postmark (Salles 1705); horizontal file fold affecting top stamp, otherwise Very Fine, an early French Line use. Scott No. 36 Estimate $2,000 - 3,000.
