Double rate mourning cover franked with 1860, 30¢ orange tied by "New Orleans, La., May 22" Confederate State Usage cds, additionally tied by red "New York, 24, May 28" exchange cds, red French entry cds and receiving backstamp, Very Fine, a Wonderful and Rare Usage of the 1860, 30¢ Franklin Issue Used in the Confederate States, Louisiana was admitted to the Confederacy on February 4, 1861 and the Federal mails where discontinued in Confederate States on June 1, 1861, ex Birkinbine.
