1847, 5¢ red brown, horizontal strip of three. Large margins to just in, each cancelled by neat manuscript. "X"'s, "Wallingford Ct. Feb. 16" Valentine week circular datestamp with day in manuscript and matching "Paid" handstamp on large cover to Middlebury Conn.; tiny tear between second and third stamps, right stamp small faults at top right, cover with few corner creases and two corner nicks, Very Fine appearance, an Extremely Rare Use of a 1847 5¢ Strip of Three To Pay the Triple 5¢ Rate on a cover which undoubtedly enclosed a Valentine., ex Goldberg; with 2007 P.F. certificate.
