Cover franked with 1873, 10¢ brown over paying the 9¢ French mail rate, tied by "Philadelphia, Pa., Aug 25" origin cds and cork duplex, red New York exchange and blue Cherbourg cds's; cover slightly reduced at right, Very Fine. Scott No. 161  Estimate $100 - 150. Under terms of the French treaty of 1874, Philadelphia lost its status as an exchange office for French mails and all mails from Philadelphia were exchanged by New York until G.P.U. in 1876. $0 (Image)
