(Incoming Philadelphia) 1872 Le Havre To Philadelphia, Pa. Cover franked with France 1870-71, 5c yellow green, two singles + 25c blue, pair canceled by "1769" dotted lozenge cancels, matching "Le Havre, 19 Aout, 72" origin cds, sent to Paris intending to be routed via England however under paid for the route (double rate at 120 centimes), sent back to le Havre with "Paris, 19 Aout" backstamp, red insufficiently paid boxed handstamp with blue "P.P." handstamp applied over in Paris, blue "In U.S. Notes, 10" circular handstamp applied upon arrival in U.S., Very Fine, a rare usage including the "10 U.S. Notes" marking.
