Folded letter with red framed "Calcutta, G.P.O., 2 July 2, 1850" backstamp and matching bold "INDIA" framed handstamp sent to care of Baring Bros. of London, red (8.17) arrival backstamp, Baring Bros. struck bold red "PER U.S. MAIL PACKET, "ATLANTIC" " two-line handstamp, entered mails with London "LS, 20AU20, 1850" Maltese cross and Liverpool (8.21) transits, sharp "6 / Cents" debit handstamp for double 3¢ British inland rate, carried by Collins Line Atlantic from Liverpool Aug. 21st to New York arriving Sep. 21st, closed bag to Boston where black "48" double rate due handstamp struck; tape stain at top center, otherwise Very Fine and rare Baring Bros. "Atlantic" handstamp.
