[Ranong, on the Kra Isthmus, is Thailand's least-populous province. Tin-dredging occurred on the Ngao River]
1943 (May & Sep) two Japanese Prisoner of War postal cards from Private Eric Palmer-Gowing at "No 1 POW Camp Thailand" to his mother or wife in Suffolk, both with Japanese censor Suzuki's chop in red & British '[crown]/PASSED/P.W.3689' (?) OR '6551' both in rosine, minor rounded corners; also Oct 1945 Eastern Telegraph Co Telegram to Palmer-Gowing on SS 'Orbita' at Egypt. 1944 (June 10) Japanese Prisoner of War postal card from Private Raymond Maddocks at 'No ("4") POW Camp/Thailand' at Tamuang, to his mother in Wales, Japanese censor Hatori's superb chop in red & British '[crown]/PASSED/P.W.6316' in rosine, minor blemishes; 7.2.1945 British 3d POW postal card to Maddocks at No 4 Camp with Return to Sender markings; telegrams of 26.9.1945 & 6.10.1945 from him at Colombo; and 4.10.1945 British 1½d Forces aerogramme to him to undercover address for returning POWs "PO Box 164/London EC1" & endorsed SS 'Chitral'.
