[New York] "Sardinia NY, Jany 29", "manuscript postmark and "10" rate on an 1851 cover to New Haven, Ct.; includes an interesting four-page letter written in a flowery prose, beginning with extolling newly-elected president, Millard Filmore, "…a man who from a fuller's apprentice has risen to the head of a nation", and ends by doing the same for Missouri Senator, Thomas Hart Benton, "…A striking jumble of recklessness, intensity and power…riding over the heads of political paragons with the coolness and impetuosity of a brigadier", the pages between filled with marvelous philosophizing, Very Fine.
