Cat No:39-42 group
1860-69 Second Roulettes 1/- brown four distinct shades from the SG 39-42 group, the two darker shades with large-part original gum, Cat £1500. [The Gibbons shade descriptors for the 1/- brown group are sometimes unhelpful: the predominant shade is red-brown. We invite personal assessment of the shades in this group] (4)
1867-70 Perf 11½-12½xRouletted 'TEN PENCE' in Blue on 9d yellow Printed on Both Sides SG 59a with the original impression on the 'reverse' orientated upright in relation to the 'face', very fine 'KADINA/JU19/69/SA' cds, Cat £1300. Rare & underrated. Ex Wolfgang Kielmann. RPSofV Certificate (2020). [Don Pearce's similar example sold at our auction of 9.11.2022 for $1555]
1868-79 Perf 11½-12½ '3-PENCE' on 4d deep ultramarine as SG 68 but Overprinted Twice One Vertical (at Right), unusually well centred, small concealed fault & repaired lower corners, GPO cds. This oddity, of which we have seen one other example, may have been an Overprint Trial. The word 'PENCE' - although partly off the stamp - is in a significantly larger font on the vertical overprint, which is 18½mm long compared with only 12½mm on the standard (horizontal) surcharge. Necessarily offered "as is" at a nominal estimate.
1868-79 Perf 11½-12½ 6d Prussian blue as SG 73 with an obvious all-over Double Print that is most evident at the framelines & inscriptions, cut from the sheet at right to preserve the design. [We suggest you enlarge the online scan to fully appreciate the error]
1868-1900 6d range of shades variously from the Large Star & Broad Star issues comprising Perf 11½-12½ x2, Perf 10 x2 (one a marginal example with an Unusually Small Star Wmk), or Perf 11½-12½x10 x4, a few blemishes, four with large-part original gum.

1868-79 Perf 11½-12½ 'TEN PENCE' in Black on 9d yellow-orange as SG 79 but Imperforate, margins large to huge with fragments of the adjoining units above & below & the huge margin at left indicating it is from the left of the sheet, GPO cds. A larger stamp & with better-balanced margins than Don Pearce's example (noted as "the only recorded example") that sold for $4070. Necessarily offered "as is", but the sheer size of the stamp causes us to share Don Pearce's and our vendor's confidence that it is a genuine imperforate error, that is unlisted by Gibbons.
1868-79 Perf 11½-12½ 'TEN PENCE' in Black on 9d yellow-orange as SG 79 but Perf 11½-12½ at the Top Only, Perf 10 at the Base and Imperf Vertically with a chunk of the adjoining unit at right and additionally Rouletted at the Top, minor red-pencil mark on the face, Adelaide duplex. An extraordinary stamp that doesn't conform to any of the Gibbons listings. We suggest that it is a genuine, and previously unrecorded, separation trial that was, perhaps inadvertently, issued to the public about 1880, which is when the Adelaide duplex cancellations were introduced. Necessarily offered "as is".
1868-79 Perf 11½-12½ 1/- deep red-brown SG 82 with Double Perfs at Left & Right and a chunck of the adjoining unit at left, large-part original gum, Cat £180+.
1870-71 Perf 10 '3-PENCE' on 4d ultramarine SG 93 horizontal strip of 3, the central unit is unusually wide, unframed 'GPO ADELAIDE/DE18/71/S-A' cds, Cat £126+. Beautiful & rare multiple. Don Pearce's strip of 4 of the Perf 11½-12½ stamp SG 68 horizontal strip of 4 - Cat only £30+ - sold for $2755.
1868-76 De La Rue 2d plate proof blocks of 8 (4x2) from the left of the sheets in black on thin ungummed card & in orange on gummed unwatermarked paper, both with positions [25-28/37-40] pencilled on the reverse, also Bantam ½d gutter block of 8 (4x2) in blue-green on gummed unwatermarked paper.
