Envelope is neatly labeled, it has the Franco cross on the front and a handwritten number “40” on the back, which represents the paid Belgian-British transit and the British sea postage (20 + 20 Kreuzer), i.e. H. The letter was only franked up to the postal association boundary using the 9-Kreuzer postage stamp; the rest was paid in cash. (Image)
