POSTE LOCALE EARLIEST KNOWN USAGE 1850 Folded cover addressed locally within Neuchâtel, franked by single 1850 2 1/2Rp Poste Locale with framed cross, good margins all around, cancelled by neat circled P.P. in blue, NEUCHÂTEL 1 OCT 50 cds alongside, subsequently cover was readdressed to Les-Ponts-de-Martel with no further charges. Although the Poste Locale stamps were delivered to the postal administration in May 1850 there is no record of usage before October 1st, 1850.
