A VERY RARE 1d VENETIAN RED FIRST DAY OF USE COVER: 1 Jan 1880 env from London to Torquay bearing a single 1d Venetian red tied by a readable strike of the "N W/3" London duplex of "JA 1/1880" (lightly struck but readable. On reverse is a very fine "TORQUAY/O/JA 1/80" cds to confirm the 1st day of use. Some soiling around the top of the stamp. (Image)
