Cat No:133

1918 (Dec 24) picture postcard franked with 10pa, tied by "Tisza Sz Miklos" pmk, from a member of FPO 48, censored "Veliki Beckerek Military Region" (later Zrenjanin-North Banat). After the Salonika Front was broken and the war ended, most of the Serbian troops were taken to Baranya and Temesvar to occupy those parts of Transylvania (Romania) which belonged to Hungary. The Serbian stamp issue "King Peter on the Battlefield" was used at Salonika (5para and 10para only) as wartime currency. Soldiers were paid with these stamps and the Greek authorities collected money from the Serbian officials at Salonika in exchange, rare (Cat No. 133) (Image)
