1926 1pi and 2pi Railway Issue, tied by Djedda (17.2.26) pmk on cover to Mrs. Philby in England, with Port Taufiq transit pmk on back, two archival pinholes at bottom of cover, which has been refolded at top (sender of this cover, Harry St John Bridger Philby, a British Arabist, adviser, explorer, writer, and colonial office intelligence officer. He converted to Islam in 1930, and later became an adviser to Ibn Saud, urging him to become King of the whole of Arabia and helping him to negotiate with both England and the United States when petroleum was discovered in 1938.
