1864 Interesting cover to Sheffield, Mass, franked w/ #65 tied by Jan 21, 1864 black Philadelphia cds, two ms notations w/ drawn hands pointing "via New York City; & the Housatonic R.R." & "Not by way of Boston," not sure if directions were followed (no receiver) or if the sender was a shareholder in said railroad! pencil notations on back indicate from a 1948 auction; minor aging on back, F-VF (Image)
