POSTAL HISTORY: 1858 (Feb 24) large-part Morteton Bay District entire to "Wangaratta/Ovens River/Victoria" with New South Wales Laureates 2d blue x3 singles with variable margins (the middle unit with four huge margins & frame-lines on three sides) tied by poor Rays '86', fair 'GAYNDAH/NSW' b/s alongside very fine 'SHIP LETTER/FREE/MA*12/1858/G.P.O.VICTORIA' transit and largely fine Crowned-Oval 'WANGARATTA' arrival b/s, a few light aging marks. The treaty rate was 6d per 1oz.
