Extensive Collection of 3c Small Queen Plate Varieties, with a total of 744 stamps, all mounted in five large binders. Each stamp has been reproduced in colour, enlarged to 17 x 21 cm, with a black oval circling the varieties. The collection includes the following: 1. flaws to the Queen's head, vampire bite, shaving nick, etc (x15), 2. specking and smudges outside the design (x43), 3. flaws in numbers, letters and frames (x66), 4. retouch and short transfer (x2), 5. kiss prints (x4), 6. re-entries (x124), guide lines (x19), 7. single position dots (x19), 8. double position dots (x67), 9. straight or curved scratches and gouges outside the design (x204), 10. dots and blobs outside the design (x181) and 11. numerous unclassified odds and ends (x181). Some items are described with Narbonne, Watt or Reiche classification numbers, and we note many printing varieties that are quite dramatic. A lovely collection, which would have not only taken a long time to assemble, but would have required a tremendous amount of stock to start off with.
