1829 Nicolet "1829" Type on Folded Letter to Sandwich, mailed on OCT.20.1829 (in red, date is confirmed in letter inside) to the Postmaster at Sandwich. The letter is free franked (with a second "1829" Type with "Free" written inside - first we've seen) by Luc Michel Cressé, appointed Deputy Postmaster in 1828. The Nicolet writer is asking to send him (in Nicolet) all mail that is addressed to a number of other towns, possibly because they did not yet have post offices. Rare and fine. (Image)
