Confederate States, Memphis, Tenn., 1861, 5¢ red (Scott 56X2), vertical pair tied by a mostly clear Aug 1861 Memphis c.d.s. on a large part of a patriotic cover front and part of the top flap: Jefferson Davis "medallion" with 11-star flags - similar to C.S.A. JD-1C, but medallion blue and everything else magenta; the whole has been pasted on a similarly color envelope with a fictitious penciled address for display; a reasonably attractive substitute for what would have been an exceedingly rare cover., Scott value for a pair of Memphis Provisionals on a patriotic cover is $12,500! .
