Postal History and Covers - Military Mail: 1864 (Oct. 1) envelope endorsed “Officers letter” and “Via Marseilles” to Manchester franked 1862-64 6d. lilac (trimmed at left) and 4d. vermilion both tied by London “19” barred numeral ovals on arrival and believed to have sent from a seaman on HMS Barossa of the China Station, endorsed “Yokohama/1 Ocb” and with Hong Kong transit and Manchester arrival backstamps, rare and early British military mail from Japan.
