With bottom stamp showing late stage of large plate crack (position 189), paying the 6 reales rate on fresh 1864 folded letter sheet to Mexico, tied by two neat strikes of Veracruz cds (Schatzkes 1757A), Very Fine and choice, ex-Larranaga.

Bottom portion of stamp, tied by boxed Monterrey date stamp (Schatzkes 860) on 1861 folded letter sheet to San Luis Potosi, Very Fine and choice, one of the finest of the six examples recorded from this district, with 2019 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.

Mexico, 1864, Eagle (1st Period), 4r green, without district overprint. Block of 15, o.g., never hinged (gum skips at right affecting two stamps), fresh with rich color, large margins all around, Extremely Fine, the largest known block of the 4r 1st Period Eagle issue without overprint, with 2010 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.
Scott No. 24b; Estimate $500 - 750.

This block is not to be confused with the common remainder/reprints. The main differences on the 4r is the darker color and that the design height is 1mm taller than the remainder issues. A block of 4 of the remainder issue accompanies this lot for comparison.

Mexico, 1867, Gothic "Mexico", ½r black on buff. O.g., never hinged, margins mostly large to touching at left, clear bold overprint and exceptional freshness, Very Fine, almost unheard of in never hinged condition, with 2020 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.
