1768-1818, group of five covers to and from Channel Islands/St. Malo incl. 1768 letter from St. Malo to Guernsey endorsed inside "Le Bateau une Prive", 1776 from Guernsey to Nantes with s/l "S MALO", similarly 1793 with s/l "34 / ST MALO", same mark in larger script from Jersey and 1820 entire with "COLONIES PAR / ST. 1784 First Flight: "An Account of the First Aerial Voyage in England" half title page of the 1784 book signed by the author Italian Vincent Lunardi, published within a month of Lunardi''s flight on 15th Sep 1784 from the Artillery Ground of Moorfields near Ware, this being the first flight in England (being preceded in GB by Tytler in Scotland), a very rare autograph of this pioneer aviator. 1840 Fourpenny post stampless entire, superb unfolded entire sent to Edinburgh, bearing a crisp strike of the red Mauchline "4" handstamp, red boxed Mauchline NO.7.1840 ds and an Edinburgh arrival cds for the following day; very rare with only two examples recorded of a red prepaid Mauchline "4" handstamp with this being by far the more attractive of the two.
