Stampless mourning envelope with full content addressed to France written from the French steamer 'Aviso L'Etoile' at Madeira dated '13 November 1862' cancelled by oval hand-struck 'Madeira' in blue, routed via Southampton with circular accountancy 'GB/1f and 'Southampton/Ship-Letter' hand-stamp (Robertson S 13) in black with circular 'Ship Letter/London' date stamp in red (Robertson S 33), French entry cachet and receiver on reverse.
