Hawes of Albany NY or Norwich England (from about 1838), addresses include care of Naval Lyceum in New York, the US Navy Yard in NY City area and Norfolk, Callao Peru, Pensacola, Bremen, Canton, c/o American Consul at Marseilles (including one forwarded to Naples), etc., and in care of ships "USS Macedonia", "US Frigate United States", "USS Levant" (as commanding officer), "USS Vincennes" (as commanding officer), "USS St Lawrence" (as commanding officer), wide range of manuscript ratings and instructions, postal markings, town cancels, forwarding, auxiliary markings including "Too Late", etc., perusing some of the letters they contain the typical mix of personal and family news, some comments on politics, etc., F-VF, an exceptional collection (Image)
