"Chagre./Franca" red oval handstamp, a magnificent strike in red bright color, harmoniously applied on November 21, 1844 folded letter from Chagres addressed to General Alcántara Herrán at Bogotá, paying a long-distance internal rate of 4 reales for a single weight in manuscript at top right, superb, one of only two covers recorded with this postmark, this being unique outside Panama, a major gem of Panamanian postal-history.(Image)
