For a seat in Westminster Hall, endorsed "Not Transferable" & signed "Gwydyr" in ms with impressed seal of the Lord Great Chamberlain's Office. On reverse is ms "Mrs Charles Smith, Northampton". Two vertical & one horizontal fold with slight tearing but ticket largely fine - embossing preserved with design and colours clear & bright. CHARLES WHITING COLOURED PRINTING - COFFEE HOUSE TICKET PLUS BLANKS: "Whiting Patentee" imprint pale orange admission ticket for a "Grand Ball at the British Coffee House, Cockspur Street, on Wednesday, the 20th of January, 1830". Signed by two members to admit "one lady". Intricately embossed in a floral & classical relief style. Also two blank proofs of the same design in buff & pale blue. Slight cracking of the embossing on the pale blue & edge-wear but otherwise fine with designs stark & well-preserved. (3) (Image)

CHARLES WHITING/CONGREVE COLOURED PRINTING - HAWKER WITH HORSE £8 LICENCE: Licence no. 505 valid from 1st August 1832 to 31st July 1833 - the more expensive, scarcer £8 version including the right of "Trading with ONE HORSE or other Beast" and signed "George Hudson ... Leicestershire". Three horizontal and five vertical folds, some holes and tears (some with reinforcing) - obviously well-used, carried from place to place - with ms filing of "George Hudson Hawkers" on the reverse. CHARLES WHITING/CONGREVE COLOURED PRINTING - CORNWALL RAILWAY SHARE CERTIFICATE: A filled-out 1836 share certificate printed by "Whiting, London" for the Duke of Cornwall's Harbour and Launceston & Victoria Railway Company. Two vertical folds & one horizontal; minor flaws - two small holes on folds plus edge-wear. Example of the processes later used by Charles Whiting to print many of his submissions to the 1839 Treasury Competition inc. an embossed coat of arms & small compound plate designs in a couple of places. RARE WYON MEDALLION IN BRONZE: commemorating Queen Victoria's visit to the City of London Corporation Guildhall in 1837, by William Wyon. Obverse diademed bust facing left, lettering 'VICTORIA REGINA', Reverse facade of the guildhall with large flag flying, lettering "IN HONOUR OF HER MAJESTY’S VISIT/TO THE CORPORATION OF LONDON/9TH NOV: 1837". CHARLES WHITING/CONGREVE COLOURED PRINTING - SWEDISH & INDIAN TAX STAMPS: Attractive c.1840s large compound plate printed Swedish revenue pieces in bi-colour blue & black with m/s cancel inc. a 50ö, 6sk (2), 9sk (2) and 12sk plus an m/s cancelled 50ö oval in green & black. Also, 1849 Indian customs duty bill with "STAMP OFFICE" No. 4 wmk. for 58 gallons of brandy from London to Calcutta with East India Company emblem within a large, complex red & black box of engine-turned shapes - a pretty example. HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT 1d ENVELOPE - RARE 2nd DAY USAGE - HEADING WITH NO UNDERLINE; 17 Jan. 1840 usage of the v. rare 1st-Type "To be posted at the Houses of Parliament only./ Post Paid. -- One Penny. -- Weight not to exceed ½oz." envelope (minor flap faults; greyish white wove paper, no wmk. apparent). Used to Manchester with partly fine red Crowned "PAID/+" London datestamp, signed by C. P. Villiers with 90% complete red wax "HOUSE OF/COMMONS" seal. Only 10 examples of this 1st-Type without underline (Huggins & Klempka EHP1, illustrated on p. 12) have been recorded, two of which are fronts and two others are in the King's collection, leaving only this example and five other complete covers available to collectors. Important 2nd day usage of the very first British postage stamp. Exhibition quality. Signed at lower left by "R.M. Milnes". Most unusually redirected from "EXETER" (cds) to "Temple, London" with black manuscript "1" postage due marking. Only a handful of redirected Parliamentary Envelopes have been recorded & only two have postage due markings (the other being a House of Lords envelope with More to Pay markings).
