AU/1881 ASSAB (Eritrea) - Santa Maria a Monte (Toscana), cover franked with 20c. orange (Sc.7, Sa.11) with a spectacular straightline "BAIA DI ASSAB" cancel in greenish blue perfectly applied, with transit backstamps and arrival of AU/1881. This is the FIRST KNOWN DATE of use of this rare mark, with certificate of Giorgio Colla indicating among other considerations: "there exist only 2 other letters with the 20c. orange value cancelled thusly, and it is a true philatelic gem", excellent quality!
