Superb! Ex 'Besancon' (III) - sold for SFr1815 - & 'Artemis'. [The ACSC entry lacks an attribution. The essay is offered with a faulty OHMS cover to a Mr J Walker in Glasgow franked with KGV 1½d scarlet punctured 'OS', the enclosed roneo'd letter, and accompanying mint & CTO examples of the issued stamp. 1928 Stamp Design Competition selection of hand-drawn (5), printed (1) or photographic (8, one of which appears to have been for the 1927 competition) stamp-size essays by various entrants, mostly quite amateurish efforts but the printed essay featuring Map & Kangaroo and with simulated perforations is in a different class (this being illustrated by Ray Chapman & attributed by him to ET Luke), also a larger hand-executed essay featuring a Map & Kingsford Smith's plane the 'Southern Cross' on wove paper (106x116mm) & endorsed "Kinross 1928", all very fine. Ex 'Besancon' (III) in a mixed lot, and 'Artemis'. [The competition was held prior to the Melbourne International Exhibition. It was hoped that the winning entry would be adopted and printed during the event. However, time was too short so the Engraved 6d Kookaburra was adapted for a 3d value, and printed at the Exhibition in sheets of 15 panes of 4.
