O116, 3c War on soft porous paper, complete top and bottom imprint and plate "No. 32" right pane of 100 from the sheet of 200 with natural straight edge and partial arrow markers at left, sheet has been separated along the middle horiz. perforations and reinforced by small strips of hinge, other than these two rows all the other stamps are never hinged including the plate blocks though gum is applied a bit unevenly, plate blocks have small hinge reinforcement in the plate blocks, mostly in the ungummed portion, of the 76 non-plate block stamps 56 are n.h. including eight s.e. stamps, small selvage flaws in the extreme edges and four stamps in the hinged center rows with tape stain, centering varies from mostly fine to very fine; catalog value is for two hinged plate blocks, 20 hinged and 56 n.h. singles.

#PR2TC5-PR4TC5, PR2P4-PR4P4, 5c-25c Newspaper stamps, Trial colors on thick cream paper and Plate proofs on card cplt. all 5c values are the white border variety which indicate that this is what the Post Office considered to be the proper first set as indicated by the way the proofs were issued, the plate proofs on card have full even margins and rich colors, accompanied by original Post Office envelope reading "United States Postage Stamps/Issue/1865/Newspapers and Periodicals," the trial colors are complete with each value in black, lake, blue green and blue, a couple with small thins which is quite usual for this cream paper, otherwise well margined and attractive, very fine.
