Cat No:O38-O45
½d to 2/6d SG O38-O45 set on Thick Paper plus ½d olive-green shade, centring generally above-average, lightly mounted or with small hinge remainders, the 2d with minor gum adhesion, Cat £530.
(9)
½d yellow-green SG O38 with Puncture Inverted (unlisted variety), light 'PORT MORESBY' cds, a few uneven perfs and a couple of minor aging marks on a few perf tips. Croaker states at p40 that "Varieties in the OS punctures are, in my experience, very uncommon in the monocoloured series" and speculates that sheets were supplied from Melbourne already perforated 'OS', reducing the varieties created in the previous issues that were punctured at Port Moresby. He does not record any varieties on the ½d value.

Cat No:O38 complete
½d yellow-green SG O38 complete sheet of 40 (5x8) with Cooke 'JBC' & 'CA' monograms in the lower margin, CTO with 'PORT MORESBY/13DEC11/PAPUA' cds, hinge remainders in the margins only, the stamps all unmounted, Cat £90+ for used singles.
½d yellow-green with Watermark Sideways Reversed (Crown Pointing Right) SG O38w marginal block of 6 from the left of the sheet, unmounted but the gum tropicalised with a couple of minor tonespots, Cat £510+ for used; unpriced mint (let alone unmounted).
1d rose-pink SG O39 with Puncture Double (unlisted variety), CTO with 'PORT MORESBY' cds & large-part original gum. This is the only 'OS' puncture variety recorded by Croaker.
2½d bright blue as SG O41 but on Thin Paper block of 4, unmounted, minor toning mostly on the perf tips at left, the upper-right unit very fine. With a Thick Paper 2½d ultramarine for comparison. [Rosenblum states at p29 regarding printings on Thin Paper that "A very few sheets of this stamp were issued, O.S. only, about 1918 ... They are unknown without the OS puncture and even in that condition are extremely rare" (our emphasis) and that the Thin Paper being whiter resulted in "greater clarity of the inks" which produced distinctive shades]
6d bright chestnut as SG O43 but on Thin Paper, lightly mounted, minor toning on a couple of perf tips at right. With a Thick Paper 6d brown for comparison. [Rosenblum states at p29 regarding printings on Thin Paper that "Again, a very few sheets were issued, OS only, about 1918. They are probably accounted for in exactly the same way as the 2½d and are equally rare"]
