1894 5c Bright Blue Harp Seal with "Falling Blue Ice Cubes" Variety, a mint never hinged plate block of 12 showing a large part of the imprint in the right margin. The top right stamp (position 30) shows the newly discovered "Falling Blue Ice Cubes" variety (Walsh 47d). The block is quite fresh with bright colour, and has full original shiny yellowish gum, with only the top left stamp missing a small bit of gum. This variety has been written-up in Maple Leaves January 2018, which prompted the owner of this lovely piece to follow up in a subsequent article published in April 2018. Extensive research done by Walsh, Hennebury and others has resulted in finding no other positional pieces so far, so this one can be considered unique. An important piece, and a must have for any serious Newfoundland collection, overall fine. Accompanied by a 2017 R.P.S.L. certificate incorrectly describing the printing as "Pale dull blue, 1880-82".
